Description

Counselling

Counselling offers a regular space to talk about the issues that you have in your life. You will meet your counsellor in a private and confidential setting. Your counsellor has the skills and training needed to help you explore your feelings and guide you through the issues affecting your life.

Counselling is a uniquely personal and voluntary process which, at times, may feel uncomfortable or difficult. If you are in crisis or feel you need immediate support, then counselling is most likely not right for you at this moment in time.

If you are thinking of counselling but feel anxious or unsure, a member of the counselling team can talk this through with you to help you with your decision.

We rely on the advanced payment of fees by our clients to ensure counselling is kept affordable and accessible to all.

If you would like to access counselling for yourself, you may qualify for counselling support through our Adult 1-2-1 service here at Rotherham and Barnsley Mind.

We offer up to 6 sessions and each one lasts around 50 minutes. These are usually held weekly, either in-person at our premises in Rotherham and Barnsley, or online.

Couples Counselling

Couples therapy is offered to support people in relationships who may be considering separation or seeking improved intimacy and understanding. In couple’s therapy, the relationship is the focus, although each partner should also expect to focus on self-improvement and self-awareness.

Successful therapy depends on each partner’s motivation and dedication to the process, and couples can expect to become better listeners and communicators and to find new ways to support one another. Goals will be established by the couple under the guidance of the therapist, and to achieve these objectives, each partner must be prepared to acknowledge and understand his or her role in the relationship.

Support in the workplace

Research shows that mental health related sickness absence is vastly increasing. The stigma and culture of silence surrounding mental ill health at work does little to address this.

At Rotherham and Barnsley Mind, we believe that mental health should get as much understanding, awareness and attention as physical health in the workplace. However, for many employers knowing where to start or even how to have a conversation about mental health can be daunting.

Rotherham and Barnsley Mind has many years experience of helping employers create mentally healthy workplaces. Our packages encompass a wide range of support including: Workshops to aid employees in managing stress and developing resilience: training to raise awareness and skills in managing staff with mental ill health: facilitated staff support groups; strategic support and advice on embedding mental health practice into the workforce.
