Description

Join The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) for 'A Breath of Fresh Air', four weekly sessions focused on combating loneliness, cultivating creativity and mindfulness, and appreciating nature.

We are offering a short programme of four FREE sessions, on consecutive Thursdays, from 10am until 1pm.

We try to foster a calm and relaxed atmosphere, with plenty of time made for chatting and tea and biscuits.

A different activity is offered each week:

  • Week 1 - Connecting with nature. Introducing mindfulness techniques such as grounding, reflection, and basic breathing exercises. Focusing on awareness of the senses – looking and listening to nature.
  • Week 2 - Mindful photography. Learning about simple photography techniques to create photos from nature, with a focus on the process of photography and being in nature, rather than concentrating on results.
  • Week 3 - Nature journaling. You will be given a journal, and encouraged to make entries focusing on what they experience in nature.
  • Week 4 - Foraging workshop. You will learn about some of the common plants that can be foraged and try some wild campfire cooking.

While we will provide a shelter, campfire, and refreshments (tea and biscuits), sessions take place outdoors, so please dress appropriately for the weather.

‘A Breath of Fresh Air’ will take place at the following Green Spaces:

New Park Springs, Grimethorpe, Barnsley:

Thursday 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th, July 2024.

Phoenix Park, Thurnscoe, Barnsley:
