What is the Elizabeth Activity and Care Centre?

Age UK Barnsley are delighted to have launched the Elizabeth Activity and Care Centre at 36A Queens Road.

The Elizabeth Centre is named after the late Queen Elizabeth II and is our commemoration to a remarkable person and her seven decades of service to our country.

Why choose the Elizabeth Activity and Care Centre?

We offer a safe, friendly, and engaging space for older people needing extra support, including specialist help for people living with health conditions, mobility issues, social isolation, or dementia.

What do we do?

Our activity programme offers a person-centred approach to help individuals maintain current skills and discover new ones. We provide gentle exercise, arts and crafts, music, sports, reminiscence, and more in a welcoming environment, that we are proud to have created. A tasty two-course meal and refreshments are available, with dietary needs catered for. We offer a shower service and support with personal care at our centre, open Monday to Friday. Arrange a free trial session for yourself or someone you know.

Dementia Support Thursdays at The Elizabeth Activity & Care Centre

Age UK Barnsley’s specialist support day for individuals living with dementia, held Thursday’s from 9am to 4pm at our Elizabeth Centre.

What happens on Dementia Support Thursdays?
Our specialist, caring team creates a friendly, engaging environment, offering respite for carers and support with personal care where needed.

Activities:
A full day of cognitive stimulation therapy based activities tailored to individuals living with dementia.

Refreshments:
Enjoy a delicious two-course meal and refreshments throughout the day.
