BARNSLEY DIAL A RIDE & COMMUNITY TRANSPORT

Door 2 Door bus services (also known as Community Transport) are for people who have difficulty using the mainstream public transport network. These services use fully accessible vehicles and can take you from your own home to pre-booked, destinations in your local area - like supermarkets or town/city centres - without the need to get to a bus stop. 

There are three types of service available:

1. ShopperBus – services run on a predetermined day and take people to and from a shopping location 
2. Dial-a-Ride – services run to a destination of choice 
3. Group Travel – journeys booked by groups, using their own or a Community Transport driver, can consist of a whole eligible group going on a trip, or individuals picked up separately to go to one destination.

How much does it cost?

Shopperbus services run on a predetermined day to a set destination and back (normally a town or city centre, neighbourhood shopping centre or a local supermarket) for a flat return fare of £3.00.

Dial-a-Ride services run to a destination of your choice and fares depend on distance:

• 0-2 miles - £2.80
• 2.01-4 miles - £3.40
• 4.01-6 miles - £3.90
• Additional miles, priced per mile at £1.00

Group Travel services are available for eligible groups going on a trip or individuals going to the same destination, e.g. a pensioners’ lunch club, and fares depend on distance or type of hire i.e. with or without the group’s own driver.
