Description

Would you like to get out and about and do more? if so the Better Together Service might be for you.

Feeling lonely and isolated is a terrible experience and this is why the South Area Council has commissioned Age UK Barnsley to provide a service to support people aged over 50. This is a free service that you can access if you live in the South Area.

We can help you find out what is happening in your area so you can join in with groups and activities and we can introduce you to likeminded people in your community. If you're housebound, need someone to visit you at home or help to get out and about again after a bereavement, an illness or you've lost confidence, we'll come out and discuss how we can support you. We know that things like transport, disability, health conditions and limited finances can be barriers to getting out and socialising and we can help you find solutions. We have friendly Social Inclusion Workers in the area who will support you and an Information and Advice Worker who can visit you at home if you're housebound to support you with benefit applications and information about health and social care.

We are working with volunteers in the South Area to deliver Good Neighbour Befriending and Community Car Services. Whether you would like some support or you want to volunteer for a few hours each week, please get in touch.

So, what are you waiting for? If you like the idea of becoming more active and meeting new people, please get in contact with us.
