ArtWorks is a creative arts day service and arts organisation that runs art workshops and placements to help and inspire people who have learning disabilities, are autistic or both.
ArtWorks aim to develop our service users artistic practices and important life skills, through a person-centered approach, supporting each of our artists to reach their full potential.
When you attend ArtWorks you will be able to engage in a range of different art workshops and projects run by professional artists.
Sessions include:
- Screen printing
- Abstract and contemporary art
- Photography
- Textiles
- Illustration
- Creative digital platforms
- Sculpture
- Costume design
- Special effects
- Animation
- Drama
- Film
- Dance
You can take part in weekly cooking, life skills, gym and swim sessions. There are also optional social outings, day trips, and respite breaks throughout the year.
We can also support you in taking part in volunteer placements. We can choose placements with you based on your interests and needs, this means the placements truly help you to develop the workplace skills you need. We currently run volunteering placements with Sheffield Doc/Fest, gardening at Wentworth Woodhouse and with Stone Face Creative.
Recently our artists won the Oska Bright Award for Women in Film and have partnered with Sheffield Station, Site Gallery and The Millennium Gallery on projects.
ArtWorks have sites across Sheffield, Rotherham and Barnsley.

Eligibility: ArtWorks is run by a friendly and welcoming team who are experienced at supporting those with additional needs to access the arts. You are eligible to attend if you have a funded personal budget from the council, please contact the front door team if you are unsure about this. We cannot administer medicines or provide personal care.
