Description
The club was formed in 1979 as Athersley North Juniors. In 1983–84 they finished third in Division Two of the Barnsley Nelson League and were promoted to Division One. After finishing as runners-up in Division One the following season, they switched to Division Two of the Barnsley Junior League for the 1985–86 season. Their first season in the new division saw them finish third, earning promotion to Division One. They were renamed Athersley Recreation in the summer of 1986.
Athersley Recreation Football Club has Senior and Junior football teams. We also hold football camps during the holidays for children aged 5- 14 years and we have close connections with Barnsley Football Club.
Our aim is to provide sport and recreation through football. We are always in need of volunteers to help hold community events and help with the maintenance of community buildings.
Opening Times
We are open on Monday - Friday between 10am to 3pm
Saturday and Sunday 10am onwards as and when the events finish.
