BARNSLEY FC COMMUNITY TRUST - FEEL GOOD TO LOSE

We had been successful in losing weight and getting a better quality of life so we decided to form our own group,  'Feel Good To Lose' 

The group starts with half an hour of discussion about wellbeing, nutrition and healthy living.  They have different subjects every week including healthy eating, meal planning. food labelling, portion control etc, as well as managing Diabetes, Coeliac disease, understanding cholesterol or any other subjects members would like to discuss.  They are mindful that not everyone wants to lose weight but if they want to get weighed the option is there.

After that there is an hour of exercise devised by Sean from Reds in the Community.  The exercises are different every week, and include a vast range of circuit training, using equipment, Step Boxes, resistance band, weights and balance balls.  Sean makes the activities fun and includes games, where he can to help keep minds active too.

Sean also does exercises for people who are less able such as Chair Aerobics or he combines circuit training whilst they are sat down, so all abilities are catered for.

Every 6th Week they have a one off session such as Zumba, Cookery, Pilates, Tai Chi or anything that group members would like.  These sessions are delivered by a qualified instructor.

At the end of every session there is half an hour for a cuppa and a natter where they discuss anything that anyone is having difficulty with.

This group is great for anyone who may be lonely, isolated or struggling with their mental health.
