Description
We are a very friendly and open minded group of people who get together each week and we do lots of exercises under the instruction of a qualified teacher beginning with a good warm up routine. We then move on to the Lishi exercises themselves, with demonstration and tuition from our teacher.
Some of them will look like Taiji or Yoga, while others look more like Chinese Wushu. But don't worry, although the exercises can be challenging at times, they are also fun and definitely achievable. We play Chinese music which is very relaxing and great to move to. We always have a break for refreshments including a variety of teas, coffee, fresh fruit and biscuits, and a chat in the middle of the session!
The best thing is to just turn up to class open-minded and give it a go. They say that you get out of it what you put in! So is it for me? Our classes are specially designed to be suitable for a wide range of levels of physical ability and we ensure that all the exercises that we do can be performed either standing or sitting down, so are available to both abled-bodied people and people with limited mobility.
We particularly welcome people with debilitating conditions such as MS, Parkinson's Disease, Arthritis and Ataxia and we have experienced volunteers on hand to assist people at any stage of the class.
Some benefits are:
- Lishi has taught me to take deep breaths to help me relax
- Lishi is very beneficial for my general wellbeing
- Lishi increased my flexibility and balance
- Lishi has kept my muscles form reiterating as quickly as they would have done.
Please contact us for more information or just a chat about the class.
