Digital skills can be a lifeline, especially at this time.
- 87% say being online helps them connect with family and friends
- 55% say it helps them feel more part of a community
- 44% say it helps them manage their physical and mental well-being.
The recent pandemic has highlighted the extent to which digital exclusion is still prevalent in Barnsley, exacerbating social isolation, presenting a barrier to accessing goods and services online, as well as employment opportunities and support.
This project aims to support Barnsley's third sector and community-based organisations to train up their own Digital Champions to support services users to develop the digital skills needed to access support, services, training or employment.
Join Barnsley Council's Digital Champions for an online session covering:
- How to identify people's barriers
- ideas to overcome them
- where to start with supporting a person's digital development and what resources are available.
You don't have to be a digital wizz to be a Digital Champion! Our Digital Champions can work with you to help develop your own digital skills, so you will feel confident to help others.
The Digital Champions will work with your organisation to identify opportunities to embed digital skills into your current programme of support.
To find out more you can email a contact number to email@example.com. They will ring and chat to you about the programme and how it could work for your organisation or give us a ring on 01226 773555 and request a call back from a Digital Champion.
