Who we are

A chance to volunteer in a number of roles with the National Theatre Organ Heritage Centre.

Description

Would you like to become part of a unique heritage venue? The Astoria Centre, Barnsley has a number of volunteering opportunities available.

The Astoria Centre is home to the National Theatre Organ Heritage Centre and houses a fascinating collection of theatre pipe organs from the halcyon days of the 1930s.

Volunteer opportunities include

  • stewarding at events,
  • helping to preserve and restore these mighty music machines,
  • preparing & cleaning the venue for public events,
  • helping with publicity & promotion,
  • digitising our fascinating archive of theatre organ memorabilia and documentation,
  • helping with admin and developing our online presence, together with furthering our media output.

We are a friendly group of volunteers, that also enjoy being part of a sociable team, helping to preserve these rare instruments.

Skills and qualifications:

No musical knowledge is necessary, in fact some of our volunteers are not musical at all but are valued members of our organisation.
