We have a wide range of services including:

Anger Management

Anger management is aimed at those individuals who are ready to identify, explore and work towards resolving issues with anger that may be affecting their life, work, and relationships.

Our one to one session encourages clients to discuss strategies and techniques that can help to manage their anger issues. Throughout the course they are asked to explore and discuss previous experiences and the root of their anger, while actively benefitting from a supportive one-to-one therapeutic relationship and learning new strategies and techniques.

The course consists of 6 sessions and offers a psychotherapeutic approach and includes techniques used in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) to consolidate a client’s learning and new ways of thinking and behaving. We actively encourage individuals to participate in groups rather than one to one as this has proven success and enhances the learning experience.

Children and Young People's Service

Our Children and Young Persons’ team works with schools and colleges across the Rotherham and Barnsley areas to support children and young people when dealing with issues that can have a negative impact on their mental wellbeing. This includes everything from exam stress to issues regarding low self-esteem and self-harm.

If you are being affected by issues or concerns that are stopping you from enjoying life or reaching your  full potential, then our counselling services could help.

Counselling offers a safe, non-judgemental space to explore any concerns that may be affecting you in your life, and to work out and understand for yourself what the issues are that are impacting on your mental wellbeing.

Person-centred counselling at R B Mind is at the core of what we offer. We are here to listen and support you in gaining greater understanding of any issues and how you might move past them. We will readily sit alongside you and support you as you make any necessary changes in your life.

Sometimes it is difficult to talk to friends, family, loved ones or colleagues. Family or friends can be part of the issue, or we don’t want to upset them with how we feel. Our counselling services provide you with a safe space to explore all these things with an experienced counsellor.

Couples Counselling

Couples therapy is offered to support people in relationships who may be considering separation or seeking improved intimacy and understanding. In couple’s therapy, the relationship is the focus, although each partner should also expect to focus on self-improvement and self-awareness.

Successful therapy depends on each partner’s motivation and dedication to the process, and couples can expect to become better listeners and communicators and to find new ways to support one another. Goals will be established by the couple under the guidance of the therapist, and to achieve these objectives, each partner must be prepared to acknowledge and understand his or her role in the relationship.

Clinical Supervision

Qualified practitioners following BACP guidelines are required to engage in monthly clinical supervision appropriate to their caseload and level of expertise. It is a formal relationship between practitioner (supervisee) and supervisor, where practitioners can present their work with patients in an open and honest way.

Rotherham and Barnsley Mind’s in-house clinical supervisor can support practitioners in the following ways:

  • Provide a safe space where difficult clinical and ethical issues can be discussed and processed.
  • Provide an environment where reflection can take place both on your client work and your own personal performance
  • Provide support and advice when personal issues have surfaced during your work with clients.
  • Help you focus on the challenges you may face as well as celebrate successes.

We offer clinical supervision in groups and individual one to one session, both having their own benefits.

Workplace Wellbeing Training for Employers

Research shows that mental health related sickness absence is vastly increasing. The stigma and culture of silence surrounding mental ill health at work does little to address this.

At Rotherham and Barnsley Mind, we believe that mental health should get as much understanding, awareness, and attention as physical health in the workplace. However, for many employers knowing where to start or even how to have a conversation about mental health can be daunting.

Rotherham and Barnsley Mind has many years’ experience of helping employers create mentally healthy workplaces. Our packages encompass a wide range of support including: Workshops to aid employees in managing stress and developing resilience: training to raise awareness and skills in managing staff with mental ill health: facilitated staff support groups; strategic support and advice on embedding mental health practice into the workforce.
