Description
155 years is a long time for any musical tradition to survive, especially with the distractions of modern life, but that’s how long our community has enjoyed a village band.
Formed in 1861, Old Silkstone Band has maintained the characteristics of a typical village band, performing at local events and venues whilst representing the communities of Silkstone, Silkstone Common and Barnsley both nationally and internationally.
Hard work and dedication has moulded the band into a strong musical team that has in recent years competed against the very best brass band’s the country has to offer.
