SSAFA, the Armed Forces Charity provides lifelong support to serving personnel, veterans and their families in their hour of need. SSAFA Forces line is a free and confidential telephone helpline and email service that provides support for serving (regulars and reserves) and ex-service men and women from the Armed Forces and for their families.
As an independent charity, SSAFA is not part of the military chain of command. Our team are here to listen and not to judge. We can give you factual information and 'signpost' ways forward to assist you.
How we can help
We have a range of services to help you including:
- Joining civvy street - support in the transition process.
- Military families - providing welfare services to the family members of the Armed Forces Community.
- Supporting Older Veterans - giving physical and emotional support to older veterans.
- Welfare and Benefits - Social care, advice and housing for the armed forces community.
- Disability support - supporting serving personnel, their families and veterans with anything relating to disability.
- Mental wellbeing - Helping cope with bereavement, injury and other forms of stress.
