THRIVE DISABILITY DAY CARE

Thrive supports young people aged 16 and above with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and complex health needs.

Our hub has nine different themed rooms to be able to meet a wide range of needs, interests and abilities. We empower young people to choose how they spend their time at Thrive and to contribute to the weekly activity planner.

Our activity rooms, we have to offer in our hub include:

• A cooking and baking room to learn life skills, food hygiene and food safety practices.
• An arts and crafts room to get creative with paints, clay and textiles.
• A music room to play instruments and to have a disco.
• A gaming room to play on the XBOX and PlayStation with your peers.
• A forest themed sensory room to take time out to relax to calming sounds, play with sensory toys or to enjoy a foot spa or massage.
• An activity room with a pool table and board games.
• A quiet room with a profiling bed and hoist to meet personal care needs of wheelchair users, and to have time out from their wheelchair watching sensory lights and listening to music.
• A comfortable lounge with TV to watch programmes and movies

Alongside our activity rooms, we also access the community regularly visiting local attractions of our young people's choice.

We also provide the AQA unit Award scheme to everyone who attends Thrive at no additional cost. The scheme allows young people to continue their learning journeys after leaving school or college. The units promote independence and are a great way to recognise achievements. A certificate is awarded to the young person each time they complete a unit, and they can compile a portfolio to use for future employment to demonstrate their skills.
