Age UK Barnsley offer a free, confidential and impartial Information and advice service about issues which concern older people. This venue is part of the Barnsley Safe Places Scheme.

Description

Age UK Barnsley offers a free and confidential Information and Advice service for older people, their families and carers.

About Us

Our experienced staff and volunteers have comprehensive knowledge of benefits for older people and a good awareness of local facilities and services. If we are unable to provide you with the information or advice that you need, we aim to signpost you to an appropriate organisation. We are able to offer home visits and pre-arranged appointments where circumstances make it necessary.

  • Our Advisers are trained to help you in many areas, and will be able to support you with Advice and Information on the following:

    • Benefits – free benefit checks, to identify entitlement to Pension Credit, Housing/Council Tax Benefit, Disability Benefits, Carers Allowance and provide help with applying for benefits
    • Social Care – Getting help at home, funding of social care, assessment process, support for carers and other relevant advice
    • Housing – Information on Housing Options such as Social Housing
    • Your Home – Information on Aids and Adaptations, preventing falls, Staying Safe
    • Legal – Information on Wills, Power of Attorney, how to deal with an estate
    • Energy – Free Home energy Checks, installation of small energy efficiency equipment, advice on energy efficiency measures/grants, Warm Homes Discount and cost of living payments

Barnsley Safe Places

Barnsley Safe Places welcomes anyone over the age of 16 to join as a member. Anyone can feel unsafe or unsure whilst out and about if something goes wrong. The venues available in Barnsley have been trained to be welcoming and helpful to anyone and everyone. There are a variety of venues such as libraries and cafes so you can find a quiet place by yourself or get help.
