Description
The Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) programme is a national initiative that aims to increase the availability of NICE recommended psychological treatments for depression and anxiety.
IAPT should be planned and not offered in an acute crisis. It is not focussed on all mental health conditions but specifically on mild to moderate ‘common’ mental health conditions which include:
- Generalised anxiety disorder (GAD)
- Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
- Specific Phobias
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
- Body Dysmorphic Disorder (with mild functional impairment)
- Panic disorder (with or without agoraphobia)
- Social Anxiety

- Depression.
Our team of Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners, Counsellors and Cognitive Behavioural Therapists are able to offer the following therapies:
- Step 2 - Low Intensity - Guided self-help with a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP). This intervention can be delivered via a group or one to one and is offered over 6-8 sessions.
- Stress Pac (6 sessions of psycho-education in a group format) Workshops (2 hour sessions delivered in a group setting)
- Step 3 High Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) 12-16 sessions delivered in both one to one and 12 week course formats.
