BARNSLEY PROSTRATE CANCER SUPPORT GROUP (CAPS)

Market Kitchen, The Glass Works, S70 1GW

Who we are

Support for men living with prostate cancer.

Description

Barnsley CaPS is a group of Barnsley men, with Prostate Cancer and this is what brings them together!

The group meets informally, every second Wednesday of the month at Market Kitchen, Glassworks Barnsley for a men’s breakfast; also meeting at ‘The Well’ throughout the year for more formal meetings, including awareness inputs.

Over a hot breakfast, one of the founding members, Roger explains “As well as the face-to-face gatherings, we also have a very active and supportive WhatsApp community and this is where men can chat in the open and in private, it’s a real strength of the group.”

The group is supported by Amanda Prout, a Urology Macmillan Cancer Support Work, based at Barnsley Hospital who has seen the group grow from six men to 27 members. Amanda proudly confirms “The kindness and encouragement the men give each other is inspiring. They are each going through their own journey but still find time to give their support to group members”.

Whether your newly diagnosed or have been a prostate patient for a while, any man with a Prostate diagnosis from Barnsley would be welcome to join.
