The Lamproom Theatre is a 187 seat venue in Barnsley Town Centre known as 'The People's Theatre'. Since its opening in 1999 it has grown in popularity and now host a variety of shows, musicals, plays, comedy and an annual family pantomime.

Did you know that The Lamproom Theatre has a thriving ‘Friends’ Organisation ?

The Friends of The Lamproom has been in existence since the formation of Barnsley Theatre Trust and it’s objective is to support the aims of the trust which are to promote live theatre in Barnsley. During the past seven years the financial contribution made by The Friends has been invaluable and without it The Lamproom would not be open today.

The Friends raise funds by organising raffles, sponsored walks, race nights, barbecues, social events and productions at The Lamproom. They also volunteer ‘man power’ as Front of House and Bar staff on a regular basis. Being part of the unique community venture that is ‘The People’s Theatre’ is enormously rewarding so if you would like to help The Lamproom to improve and grow, make new friends or improve your social life, why not come along to one of ‘The Friends’ regular monthly meetings?
