Description
Reds in the Community, Strolling Reds is a free weekly walking programme for local adults. The programme is open to adults of any size, age or gender, with walks commencing from various locations around Barnsley and surrounding areas. Every Thursday, the walk begins at 10am and lasts approximately two hours including a rest stop for hot or cold refreshments.
The aim of the group is to help local people get out of the house and improve general health in a relaxed and supportive environment. On top of the health benefits, there is a huge social aspect to the group including getting involved in theatre nights and trips to the seaside.
It’s aimed at anybody who wants to do a little bit of socialising and physical activity. It’s definitely not a hiking group, it is more for the social side. We walk at the slowest person’s pace so don’t feel pressured to be pushing yourselves beyond your limits, it is a nice stroll. There is no need to sign up online, simply turn up at the meeting point of the walk and join what is a friendly and welcoming group for everyone within the community.
Please check our website for dates and meeting places.
