Welcome to the Penistone Archive website
We have thousands of photos, publications, ephemera and documents relating to the local history of the Penistone area and the collection is steadily growing.
The archive is in the process of being digitised which as you might imagine, is a lengthy process. We won’t be able to upload all of it here so what you’ll see on these pages is just a taster. If you don’t see what you’re looking for or would simply like to find out more, please send us an email or pop in to see us – you’re assured a warm welcome and we’ll see what we can do to help.
A group of enthusiasts determined to preserve the history of Penistone and local areas in one location and available now and for future generations.
Volunteers are needed!
You don't have to be a historian or a member of the history group. There are plenty of jobs to do including helping to maintain Neville Roebuck's original archive by taking newspaper cuttings of local happenings and putting them in the appropriate folders, or just come along to chat with like minded people.

Opening Times
Most Thursdays,
10.00am – 12.30pm
Closed all other days although special viewings can be arranged by appointment.
