Description

You will learn basic pottery, hand building techniques, including slab and coil building to produce 3D decorative objects. You will also explore decorative technique to extend the work produced to a professionally finished standard by using slips and glazes.

This course offers the opportunity to have a go at the “Great British Throw-down” and making something more interesting out of lumps of clay.

Come and Join like-minded people. All abilities are welcome.

By the end of the course you should be able to:

  • experience two different building techniques from (Coil, Slab, Press mould, Pinch pot)
  • explore and experience two different decorating techniques from (slip decoration, imprinting, sgraffito, glazing, burnishing, oxides)
  • develop your work by building a range of practical skills and technical understanding.
  • learn and use the correct terminology.
  • Evaluate your own work to aid future development.
  • work in a safe studio environment with supervision to ensure safe working practice is used at all times.
