Home Care Direct (HCD) have been operating since 2003, offering an alternative approach to personalisation, through personal budgets and personal health budgets, as a Third-Party option and legal employer on behalf of the client to CQC standards.

The Home Care Direct service is specifically designed to help people find and manage their Personal Assistant team who will support them to live life in the way they’ve outlined in their support plan. In our experience this isn’t just care needs but, is anything from daily walks, going to see more football matches or even visiting Daleks at Doctor Who conventions.

One of the main barriers to self-directed support is that people are daunted by the responsibilities of employing their own Personal Assistant team. A person will still have all the same choices and control, yet they won’t have to take on the responsibility (and sometimes the hassles!) of being an employer.

We’ll ensure Personal Assistants are employed in a legal manner, taking on the payroll on a person’s behalf, including all employer’s National Insurance, holiday and bank holiday pay, maternity/paternity and sickness pay and pension. On top of this the person and their Personal Assistant team will be fully covered under our employers and public liability insurance.

As part of the service, we will also allocate a Home Care Direct local/regional Community Nurse Assessor who will train staff to meet and maintain the competence of care to national minimum care standards. They will also manage the support team. liaising with the client and or family, other professionals and do ongoing supervisions of staff and appraisals.

We do not employ PAs to work with more than the person they employed to work with. We also provide, a dedicated Head Office Care Facilitator and a 24/7 support line to ensure everything runs smoothly.
