Description
As part of Volunteers’ Week 2025, Barnsley CVS is hosting a Volunteer Awareness and Recruitment Event on Tuesday 3rd June, from 10:30am to 2:30pm at Barnsley Civic.
This drop-in event is open to everyone and provides the perfect opportunity to explore how volunteering can make a real difference—both in the community and for the individuals who get involved.
A wide range of local charities, community groups, and voluntary organisations will be on hand to:
- Share information about current volunteer opportunities
- Offer insight into the work they do across Barnsley
- Provide one-to-one advice on how to get started with volunteering
Some of the organisations already signed up are; Barnsley Borough City of Sanctuary, DIAL Barnsley, The Carers Garden, Barnsley Hospice, Citizens Advice Barnsley and many more!
As part of the day, Barnsley Council will also be attending to mark the relaunch of its ‘Love Where You Live’ campaign—a borough-wide initiative to bring people together and celebrate pride in place through social action, volunteering and neighbourhood support.
One attendee from last year’s event said:
"For me it was a good opportunity to talk with others in the voluntary sector and have a relaxed chat about what we were all up to. I spoke a lot with the people on the Jolly Good Communities table, and learnt a lot about their initiatives. I had several people interested in our volunteer opportunities, and a couple will pursue options to volunteer with us."
Whether you’re completely new to volunteering or looking for your next opportunity, this event will give you the chance to meet friendly faces, explore meaningful roles, and find the right fit for your skills and interests.
No booking is required—just drop in anytime between 10:30am and 2:30pm.
