Description
Dearne Valley Park Lake. (A.K.A. Hoyle Mill Lake) Barnsley. Managed purely by Hoyle Mill Angling Club, in pleasant surroundings within a major conservation area, this lake is highly under-estimated. With a good head of bream, roach, chub, tench, perch, skimmers and carp to 25lb plus, this 1 hectare lake hold it's own with better known waters. It has 2 islands and depths average 4 and a half foot with a couple of trenches going to 6 foot approx.
There are 2 lakes here, but fishing is main lake only. The smaller lake is for breeding and restocking the main lake. They show to all methods but pole and feeder seem to be the main tactics here with the feeder getting the bigger carp between the islands. It must be noted however that only the roadside bank has platforms at the moment but platforms are being put in place on the opposite bank by the Rangers.
