Description

The Barnsley & Penistone group aims to help local people, regardless of age, ability, sex or race to enjoy walking. You are warmly invited to join us, to not only enjoy the walking but also the scenery and companionship of fellow walkers.

There is a regular programme of:

  • Weekly Saturday walks, usually between 8 and 10 miles each, which range in technical difficulty from ‘easy’ to ‘moderate’: and
  • Once per month there is a short ‘Friendship’ walk of up to 2 miles with a technical difficulty of ‘easy’. Although everyone is welcome, these walks are aimed at those who still enjoy walking but cannot manage longer walks. At the end of each walk we visit a café for refreshments and to further enjoy each other’s company.

In addition a series of mid-week walks are being trialled, each a distance of between 5 and 6 miles.

The group has a car sharing policy which operates from local meeting points, and if sharing you are asked to make a nominal contribution towards the drivers fuel costs. If you do not have your own transport, or have any questions about a walk, please contact the walk leader. Contact details for the walk leader and the location of meeting point(s) will be notified for each walk.

you can visit our website on https://www.barnsleypenistoneramblers.org.uk/  or for general enquiries about the group please email our Chairperson.
